If you’re visiting Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, you may know that Maple Grove Farms is located in the area (St. Johnsbury). Maple Grove Farms is known as one of the largest maple production facilities in the United States, and produces yummy treats like Maple Syrup, Maple Sugar Candy and Salad Dressings, like Balsamic Vinaigrette made with Pure Maple Syrup.
Until recently, it was possible to tour the factory. But that’s no longer the case due to terrorism fears and 9/11 security guidelines. Cost prohibitive glass-partition retrofitting costs mean that tours are off for the foreseeable future.
However, visitors can still strike a camera pose in front of the giant-sized maple syrup tin outside of Maple Grove’s museum and gift shop. Kids will love sampling maple sugar candy inside the gift shop.
Local secret: At the gift shop, ask if there are any maple candy factory seconds boxes available–if you’re lucky, you might just get your hands on yummy, though somewhat imperfect, candy treats at deep discounts! Also, the salad dressing prices in the gift shop can’t be beat at your local grocery store!
